So I finally got the chance to watch Nicolas Winding Refn's new film Valhalla Rising. It was a very dark and cerebral viking film. Needless to say I loved it, and this weeks Thor Thursday is very much so inspired by that movie.

Thor Thursday - 03

This week's Thor Thursday I posed a question to myself... What if Ridley Scott Directed a film about the god of thunder? The second this question presented itself my mind started racing with images of blood soaked battle fields, burning castles, falling siege towers and endless lines of trebuchets hurling fireballs. Then there was only one image left... a battle hardened Odinson quietly contemplating the coming horrors of Ragnarok.

Frank Frazetta's Death really hit me hard. His work is and will always be a great source of inspiration and a monumental influence on me and most illustrators. Thank you Frank for teaching us all how it should be done.

I thought I would kick start this party with a classic old school Thor. Jack Kirby's Thor was so much fun. That man knew how to draw the god of thunder.

Welcome to Asgard

Tomorrow marks the beginning of an Epic Journey into Mystery. Thursday May 6ths will be the first Thor Thursday. A Odyssey that will come to completion exactly one year from that day with the release of Kenneth Branagh's Thor.
